Kath,

I don't know if you have seen this yet but Eunny just posted a complete steeking chronicle. from planning there placement, the different types of steeks, to cutting and blocking.

here is the link:

http://www.eunnyjang.com/knit/2006/01/steeking_chronicles_the_should.html

there is so much great info here! Plus she just posted her own pattern, a vest, with complete steeking instructions!

I haven't had a chance to mention, love the site! What an amazing undertaking!

I'm a member of Team Boston, our website can be found here:

http://obsessiondujour.typepad.com/teamboston/

And to Knitters - steeking is about the craziest, counter-intuitive technique out there (I mean, *cut* your knitting?? I usually am very careful to keep scissors far away from what I'm working on). But as scary and counter-intuitive as it is, it's also pretty magical and super cool, if you can get past the cutting part.

Meg Swansen has a great technique for crocheting a steek. I think it's in Sweaters from Camp and another book of hers. This is important for me because I hate sewing knits on a machine. More info on crocheted steeks here.
