I would like to let everyone know that I was very wrong to use Jennifer Murphy's image of her bears in my shadow box series. We have been in contact and I have apologized for my inexcusable ignorance with copyright issues. The piece entitled "Buttons and Bears" was immediately removed from the show and I have dismantled the box. This has been a very important learning experience for me and I will definitely be more educated in this matter for the future. Thank you again to Jennifer and C1 Art Space Gallery for being so understanding.

I had a look at the website, and you're definitely right, those are Jennifer Murphy's images in 'buttons and bears'. Thanks for letting us know. Hopefully Jennifer Murphy will take the appropriate action to notify the artist and the gallery. I can only hope that Heidi Jahnke used this image in ignorance and not in malice, and was not aware of the very serious copyright and ethical issues at stake.

I recognized the stuffed toy images in Heidi Jahnke's "Buttons and Bears" (see http://www.c1artspace.com/gallery.html#) as the work of Jennifer Murphy (http://www.jmurphybears.com/index.html), who lives in the US. If you look in the section called Gallery of Fun Things, you'll see the exact same image (minus the buttons). I'd like to know what Ms Jahnke has to say about that? I asked Ms Murphy, and she had no idea that her work had been used.

Kristen, I might have to fight you for that piece... ;)

This is the kind of art I'd love to own. If I weren't a graduate student making very little money I'd probably buy some.
