Emily, well done. I totally agree. Far too many competitions are getting away with daylight robbery and this is one of them. As for the Noise campaign…ooops, I mean competition: since when do little magazine establishments get off calling the under 25s “emerging artists”? Hmmm?

Great info, but I have a question– what’s in the picture? Are those knitted bibs? Am I blindly overlooking the link in question? (I ask because– well, because I’m weirdly interested in knitted bibs. Hee!)

I just looked at the rules for this contest at redefine mag. I don’t think it’s fair or right they get all control of your piece of artwork…and that if you submit the work, they get to keep it! What is that about?

This is what the Contest Rules state: “Once submitted, the contest entry becomes property of Redefine Media and will not be returned.”

I’m sorry but I think this is a rip off for artists and I would NOT recommend this as a good contest. It’s a nice thought of recycling, but the treatment of artists and their work is very poor. Most contests, still allow artists to have FULL rights, and don’t ask for you to send in the original piece but a copy!
