Whilst trawling through the pincushion group discussion I found a link from Redwork in Germany to a tutorial for a Dress Form Pincushion tutorial.

This knit donut is a kick- and you could probably adapt it to a pincushion, maybe by adding a lining before you seam it or just using a tighter gague.
