    This is my favaourite bag:

    http://moonstitches.typepad.com/moonstitches/2006/07/ugly_duckling.html

Perfect stitching, wonderful fabrics. Perfect combination of everything. Love it.

  2. Wendi Gratz Says:

My favorite is Bubbly Ocean Girl at http://www.hula-la.com/whiplashentry/july_bags.html.

  3. Tanya Says:

There were so many wonderful bags! I can’t pick just one, but I’ve narrowed down my favorites to these three:

Snarky Book Bag – I love the sly sense of humor
Folk Bags/Zakka Bags – Yummy use of colorful fabrics
Frounchess Bag – Delighful ruffled confection!

Of Course I’m very proud of my own bag as well (the Ruined Lemon Bag), but these three are fantastic! What fun!

this has been such a great competition/idea. i wish i had entered too. wow! it takes a long time to get to see all the entries. alas… it also looks like some people posted ‘tutorials’ of other things without maybe realizing it was a ‘bags’ competition. maybe they should be encouraged to re-enter in another comp?

my favorite for ’skill’ is the hand-embroidered shopping bag…
    http://halfbirthdayknits.com/whiplashJuly06.html
even down to the receipt details it’s a clever and pretty bag. the interior draw-string option makes it seem also very smart, and worthy of the skill title. great execution and idea.

for fancy i like the purple cocktail purse with the little frills. very summery. i would actually buy and use one like that.
    http://polvorondelimon.blogspot.com/2006/07/cocktail-purse.html

for tutorial, these two by egater are great… do i have to pick one?
    http://egater.blogspot.com/2006/07/kotidbags-otsustasin-kki-et-vtaks-osa.html
the photos are clear, and easy to follow. i could figure out the complex triangle bag by following along with the pictures.

also ‘the work bag’ by whizzme http://whizzme.blogspot.com/2006/07/work-bag-tutorial.html
The close-up photos in this tutorial are great!

My favorites are Moonstitches’ Ugly Duckling Bag, Tumbling Blocks’ Frounchess Bag, and Pink Chalk Studio’s Water-Carrier Tutorial. I would use any in a heartbeat. But I also like the tongue-in-cheekiness of the Hand-Embroidered Shopping Bag and the Library Bag as well.

So many great bags, my definite favourite keeps changing!

I love the Kimono Obi craft case for Skill; and the Frouchess for Fancy!

I (like Tanya!) am also proud of my own – Heatwave & Sushi knitting needle rolls! But, there are so many other incredible bags! I’m also really looking forward to the next challenge – I’m already wondering what theme it might be! LOL

  16. stephanie s Says:

the grocery bag for certain – http://halfbirthdayknits.com/whiplashJuly06.html, water bottle tutorial as well – http://pinkchalkstudio.com/blog/2006/07/10/whiplash-challenge-water-bottle-carrier/, and the kimono obi craft case – http://annadilemna.typepad.com/anna/2006/07/snow_white_and_.html. and in the name of shameless self promotion, my bag – http://rubycrownedkinglette.typepad.com/rubycrownedkinglette/2006/07/snark_alert.html ain’t too shabby…. but i still haven’t the nerve to take it to the library…

  18. StoneAmazon Says:

There are so many amazing and creative entries!

    My picks are:

Tutorial: Knickers Evening Bag by petulant feminine (funny, thrifty, and clearly illustrated)
Fancy: Lunchbox Knitting Case by karrie at Girl on the Rocks (I love it! tiny strawberries and gingham! So cool.)

Also awesome: The Frounchess (Fancy), Fancy Pink Cupcake purse (Fancy, I assume), Water Bottle Carrier (Tutorial) and The Bubbly Ocean Girl Bag (not sure what category, but it’s lovely).

    Well done everybody.

  19. miliana Says:

i LOVE these three with a passion:

    *ugly duckling::mangetsu

    Grocery Bag Purse::stoneamazon

  20. whizzzzme Says:

I think there are so many great entries it is hard to pick, but I finally narrowed it down to
Fancy – the Frounchess bag, I just love the use of the different fabrics for the frills – real fancy!, although Blowin in the wind & the ugly duckling tie for second with the gorgeous stitching.
Skill – Hands down for me was the grocery bag – I am so going to try to make one of these! a fantastic idea.
Tutorial – well of course I would vote for mine first!! but I also love the water bottle tutorial – probably going to have to make one of those too.

Thanks for a great compeition – it was fun to get involved.

  21. Anne Norman Says:

Heather’s stylin’ monk’s bag blows me away.
    http://truestitches.blogspot.com/
The fabrics are to die for, the design is clever and suits the fabric well, and construction looks superb.

  22. Anne Norman Says:

In addition to the monk’s bag, I really like the blowin’ in the wind bag. The embroidery design is beautiful and looks perfect with the color and shape of this bag. I’d love to make one for myself, if its creator doesn’t mind!

  23. futuregirl Says:

    These are my favorites:

Grocery Bag Purse::stoneamazon – great idea and great workmanship. the grocery receipt change purse was brilliant.

Kimono Obi Craft Case::annadilemna – this made me laugh *and* it’s useful. what more can you ask for?

round bag tutorial::giseleschoene – a nice tutorial for a distinctive purse.

Water Bottle Carrier Tutorial::PinkChalkStudio – very well photographed tutorial.

Sail Away Tote and Zipper Pouch ::LittlePurl – cute combo. when you have a bag that size it’s always a good idea to have a tiny bag ‘anchored’ up top.

  25. Auntly H Says:

The snarky bookbag deserves props for doubling as one of the more insightful architecture critiques I’ve read in a long time.

I was very impressed by the laptop backpack. If I ever manage to get myself a laptop, I’d love the pattern for that one….

  26. katrin Says:

of course i´m proud of my own bag (pirate´s bag). think we´re all somewhat proud, otherwise we wouldn´t have entered, would we? ^^

my favorites are alex´ (moonstitches) wonderful *ugly duckling
the the sail away set from little purl
and the pink cupcake purse by pincstuff

to be honest – there are so many beautiful bags, it´s *very* hard to pick some specials.
every bag has it´s own flair and style, not every bag matches every “taste”, so this may be a very subjective choice.

    the Bolivian weekender

    Talk about great inspiration!

  37. dorie Says:

The bag theme was a really good idea. Who doesn’t like bags?

I love anna dilemna’s obi bag–the character contrast and the decorative stitching are wonderful. I also really like polvoron de limon’s bag–great shape–as is the shape on the round bag tutorial–I think I will try that one.

  38. Alisa Says:

I think the Bolivian Weekender should take it for skill. Nice nice job.

A fantastic competition – thank you, WhipUp!

  47. CarinaWardi Says:

Oh dear, so many great bags… I don’t suppose it’s possible to pick all of them just for the effort!?
Ok, then… I’ll have to go with:

    the Laptop backpack,
    the Water bottle carrier tutorial
and the saree Stylin’ Monk’s bag.

  48. rosa Says:
