Whiplash – September – HAT

SEPTEMBER is officially HAT month – the project can be simple or complicated, can be classic design – using your millinery skills or a well tailored mens golf cap or a fun freestyle crochet creation sitting atop a head, what about a crazy colourful winter beanie or making a fitted felt cloche. Types of hats can include a summer sun hat or a winter beanie, a fun costume hat, or an evening cocktail hat, it can be for you, your kids or your man. The usual three categories: skill, design, or a tutorial or pattern of either of these.

There are three different categories you can enter

TUTORIAL:
I love a good tutorial – these must have clear photos or illustrations and good detailed instructions, the project can be simple or complicated, can be instructions on classic millinery or tailoring a mens golf cap or instructions on freestyle crocheting a crazy colourful winter beanie or making a fitted felt cloche. Types of hats can include a summer sun hat or a winter beanie, a fun costume hat, or an evening cocktail hat, it can be for you, your kids or your man. But the main criteria is how easy the tutorial is to follow.

SKILL:
This section is for you if you are showing off your skill in millinery, tailoring, felting, knitting or crochet.

DESIGN:
This section is for you if your design is the main feature of your hat. Your techniques are not so hot but your crazy, fun, colourful or original design is what sets this project apart.

How do I submit a picture?

  4. Edie Says:

Do we have to make the hat this month, or can we submit one we’ve made earlier? Time limit on “earlier”, as in the hat should have been made this year perhaps?
