Alice from Raspberry writes to ask anybody if they can help her purchase a certain mag in the UK.

I wonder if anyone can help me!? I want to purchase the next copy of Marie Claire Ideas, but I can’t find them anywhere to buy in the UK! I don’t want to commit to a whole year via a Amazon.com subscription, I just want to see a copy and flick through, is this too much to ask?! Can anyone help me please!

Well I can help you. Though you may prefer to find somebody in France, who could buy it for a lesser price than in Switzerland. Otherwise we could just do a little swap? I am sure there are plenty of goods in UK that are unavailable in Swizerland (do you have access to Interweave’s Spin Off in UK?)
Please come to my blog, and post a comment with your email if you wish to have a little exchange with me! ;-)

I bought the latest copy in France last weekend, but I see that Borders Bookshops are supposed to have it on their list of available magazines

Try this link

I found a copy recently in a newsagent in London. You may find one near you who can place an order for it – try somewhere that stocks foreign papers.

hello…I love this mag too! I have found it often in Borders bookshop, in their great magazine section…..also, I found that lots of newsagents in London seem to sell it {you know, those great little ones with tons of art and design magazines!!!!}…..hope you find it!! :)

Also, it is probably worth speaking to your local news agent to see if they can get it in for you – a bit old fashioned, but im sure someone will oblige!

It’s definitely on Border’s stock list, see: http://www.bordersstores.co.uk/magazines/foreign-/french/?page=4

The Institut Francais library in South Kensington holds it too: http://www.institut-francais.org.uk/general/gi_about.php

Hey there from France! I love this magazine, I get my subscription every year! I’d be happy to help you, let’s organize a little swap? (the Christmas issue is great!)

Am also willing to help if you can’t get your hands on a copy, but after reading all the comments here it sounds like you should end up with at least a dozen magazines :o)
If others have similar cravings for stuff that you can’t get in your own country (magazines, candy, craft items) try http://gimmeyourstuff.blogspot.com/
It’s a cultural exchange blog where people swap stuff- FUN!

When all else fails, try the website for the magazine itself – http://www.marieclaireidees.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/Site.woa/wa/mci/
I took out a subscription directly with them and they ship internationally. Might help to brush up on your French first though!

At Borders, if you don’t see MCI in with the craft magazines, sometimes you can find it in the international magazine section.
