Jenny writes in with a suggestion and a question.

I have spent the better part of today looking for a discontinued yarn. Noro – Big Tubu to be exact. I’m almost crazy trying to find it because I know that someone, somewhere had a skein (or more!) just sitting in their stash but they don’t know what to do with it. Wouldn’t it be fabulous if I could somehow find this person? I am not web savvy at all but I think we need a stash site where people can register what they have – then we can trade/buy from each other!!!!! Most of the yarn I have in my stash I would be happy to get rid of – but I spent good money on it and know that SOMEDAY I will get around to making something with it – even though I continue to buy yarn at a faster pace then I can knit! Maybe one of your readers knows of such a site or would be interesting in starting one. Maybe one of your readers has some Big Tubu in their stash!

I did a quick look around the net for Big Tubu and came up with two possibilites. One is from a blog entry where someone had a skein and didn’t know what to do with it…maybe she still has it?

and the other is that a seller just sold some on ebay Canada. (ebay.ca). Item number 320052469914
    Maybe she has more?

That is a fantastic idea. I bet even 3/4 of a skein left from a project would help someone else.

Hi, I suggest using “Want it Now” on e-bay–you can post something you’d like to buy, and sellers can search it and respond to you. You never know~!

There is a yahoo group called stash traders.

ELANN.COM, an amazing discount yarn site that I have ordered from many times, has a SWAP CENTER: http://www.elann.com/swap/swaphome.asp. From ELANN: Are you desperately seeking a particular yarn? Or, do you perhaps have yarn left over at the end of your project that you’d like to find a good home for? Elann’s Swap Center is designed to put you in touch with the thousands of knitters who visit our site daily. Just log on and input yarns you’re looking for or offering, edit or delete your submissions, and/or make initial contact with another user.

Are you still in search of Noro Large Tubu? If so, I have five skeins of color L47 (earthtones: tan, grey, brown, burgundy). If you’d like, I can e-mail you a photo.
