Others do provide you with the option but will only ship via courier (fed ex or ups) which is ridiculous considering that very often it is small, light weight items that you would like to order overseas. the excuse for using couriers is that the items have to be sent insured. What does that imply? it implies that non-US countries are indeed third world and that our postal services are unreliable or non-existant which i find downright ignorant and insulting. It makes me wonder whether those companies have any business sense considering there's a lot of money to be made from our custom? Look at all the lovely people in blogland who sell their stuff on their websites and on etsy - a massive majority are gladly willing to send overseas, even if it means looking up postage. Now that's true business sense!

with regards to knitpicks i agree with everything that is said by knitabulous in her post. unfortunately many many US-based companies refuse to ship overseas stating one excuse or another.
