Shiso Mama’s Collage-a-Day

shiso-84.jpg

Shiso mama makes a small piece of collage art every day. See them all on her website and on Flickr. She explains her motivation on day 1. What a great way to keep the creative juices flowing, and develop your creative voice along the way.

Some are representational, some are abstract. Get a peek into her process here.

The collages are giving me all sorts of ideas for quilts and quilting patterns.

What other do-something-every-day projects are there out there?

What a great idea to keep your hand in even on busy days! Sometimes, I want to make art, but getting everything set up seems un-do-able at the end of the workday. But a simple collage! Yea!!!!!!!!!!

I have a few do-every-day projects. The creative ones are: at least 100 words of fiction per day, and one drawing per day. It’s an amazing kick-start, and very doable!

    ummm - me!

I’ve been making a fabric postcard a day for 2007. I have a blog and flickr pages. I have hesitated to boast, because 2007 is long, and we are not even two whole months into it. But I’m up to 57 postcards.

    Stay tuned!

Shiso Mama blew me away- thank you for posting about the collages! I will be saving my pennies to purchase one…

There is a new blog I started called sketchyartists. http://www.sketchyartists.blogspot.com

It’s a forum for the creatively-minded to get inspired & share what they are up to & thinking about day to day. We’re just getting going, but it is already providing that creative boost to do something every day.

I’ve heard of several people who take a photo a day, which sounds easy enough I might be able to do it. I like the collage idea.

on my blog, i used to write somewhat lengthy posts about 3 times a week. but i am super busy at the moment, so i committed to posting a picture and 10 words every day for the duration of my grad class (six weeks). this new way of blogging has really given me a chance to reexamine each day for its beauty and adventure, and by always having my camera with me to capture those treasured snaps, i find i am viewing things with a deeper sense of “something” which i cannot describe. it’s defintely been a wonderfully fulfilling creative experience for me.
