I often see people participating in great swaps in blogland that I don’t hear about until too late. How does one find out about these swaps, anyway? Is there a central spot where all swaps are posted?

lots of time the swap happen on forums and other times a blog owner just decides to host a swap and announces it on the ir blog. Those are the types I have been a part of. they are also places that host swaps ( I think it is called swap bot but not sure on that as I have not done one of those yet).

There are at least 2 groups on Flickr for general swapping
    http://www.flickr.com/groups/swap_it
    http://www.flickr.com/groups/53861890@N00
or put swap in the groups search and see what else you get!
All the ATC groups like a swap, and there are a couple of independent sites promoting general international swapping, which Google may help with.
If you have kids who make ATCs, I have a Flickr group called
    http://www.flickr.com/groups/kidsmakeatcs
for them to have a swap, too
    Hope this helps x

swap-bot.com coordinates lots of interesting (and weird) swap.
If you’re not interested in swap-bot swaps, we (as gwen + cats and sunshines creations) (sure anyone can join us) can coordinate our swaps. Just mail me (gwenandcats@yahoo.com). I’m waiting for your reply. (Sure, anyone can make a request for swap.)

There’s a list of most of the knitting related swaps and knit-alongs over at http://knitalongs.xaviermusketeer.com/ (swaps are at the bottom).

You might also try craftster.org — they have swaps for a variety of crafts: sewing, knitting/crocheting, atc, etc. Even if you don’t join a swap, craftster is a great place for tutorials and to see what others are making!

Thanks everyone! I do craftster swaps, and I’ve looked at swapbot too, but I have, like gwen + cats, thought some of their swaps were a little weird. Thanks for the flickr link, I must try that. What I’m curious about are the ones people post about on their blog, but maybe I just need to read more blogs more frequently…

There is a swap and trade board on the Supernaturale/Glitter site:

I think you’re talking about things like Secret Pal and Soockapalooza — you just have to read the blogs and act fast if you hear whisperings about swaps starting. I think Sockapalooza sign-ups were only open for about two days because it filled up so fast (1000 participants). Just hang in there and do check the swaps and knit-alongs site posted above as they seem to be pretty on the ball.
