The socks, for my girlfriend in Greece, who has sent me several pairs. Alternatively, I would knit something for myself. I'd happily ditch the acrylics I have, the only thing I can get locally. Above all, I'd have a blast (a therapeutic one) sitting, knitting, creating, listening -- to what, I don't know, now that I've finished Harry Potter! I have done some shawls but always seem to get the wrong colour for the pattern, usually not realising until I'm half way! Also I have never knitted anything for myself before but would if I won a kit. I dont know how Kerrie manages to do all the things she does with a large family, she realy is a superwoman! About the challenge: until now I've only knitted things for myself because I think I'm not much experienced yet and I don't want to make something not good enough to give as a present. However... these colours make me wanting to give it a try. They are soooo perfect! Maybe a hat and a scarf for my two nephews? A cardigan for my sister? We have a twice-monthly crochet and knitting club. One of our younger teens tried for many weeks to learn to crochet, without much success. Then last month she tried knitting, and in one lesson she blossomed into a confident, capable knitter. The aran / chunky cashmere for a hat or scarf is something that would just amaze and delight her, because the only yarn she's ever used is crunchy acrylic.
