Way too stupid and silly - for me, handcraft and I do an immense amount of it - knitting, crochet, tatting, sewing, Xstitch, painting and upon occasion, polymer clay - is about practicality - making what we need and use everyday as beautiful as possible... even tatting, that wonderful old lace work art can be practical in giving beauty and detail to a drab world ! This stuff is just silly conceit - as so much 'modern art' is - useless, meaningless, meant for no good reason, its all in the head of its creator instead of in its general beauty and skills of work-men-ship. Something that will stay in art gallery now but that can be thrown away in 40 years because it had nothing to offer from the first. At least my wool work will be used till it is thrown away thread-bare and falling apart and the people I make it for know that I put a lot of time, love and effort into it! Yes, my work is transitory as all things made with yarn and thread must be - but I created not a foolishness - but, beauty.
