editorial: post holiday wrap up
Thank you all for keeping on reading whipup over the holiday break. I hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday and celebrated well in your own personal style. I am now back at work with a huge to-do list after almost 3 weeks at the beach. I live in inland Australia and my husband and I took the kids for a longer than usual camping/beach holiday – encompassing Christmas and New Year. We celebrated with a beach BBQ and Pavlova, beach cricket and of course a lovely swim in the ocean and lots of sand castle building. The highlights of the holiday for the kids were learning to kayak, jumping off of a rope swing into the river and catching a fish big enough to eat. For me the best thing was that finally the kids are big enough and good enough swimmers to not need constant supervision and I was able to read four books and swim every day in the ocean.
Needless to say I did no holiday crafting, hence the big to-do list. I have a few things planned: make a couple of light cotton summer tops, finish off a baby quilt for my soon to be born niece/nephew and do the binding of a queen size quilt for my bed. I will be also doing lots of outdoor crafting and have a rope climbing ladder to build (with help) and a rock sculpture planned for my front garden – as well as some mosaic to do on the bird feeder.
I am excited to see the direction that whipup will take in the next year. I am looking forward to more contributing stories and tutorials throughout the year – please feel free to send me your thematic ideas and story ideas. We are doing children’s month in January – and it is not too late to send in your kids crafting essays or tutorials. Thank you for your participation in whipup in 2007 and look forward to a bigger and better 2008.

Your vacation sounds relaxing and invigorating! What a wonderful time! I am in the snowy and beautiful western USA, so the beach activities are so very inviting!

I love whip up and I am a constant reader, but didn’t participate so far.
This is one of my personal goals for 2008.
Thanks for the idea of whip up and all the hard work you put in.
