yarn clubs
Love yarn - you might want to consider joining a yarn subscription club - you join for a set period of time - pay a fee and receive a different surprise yarn in the mail each month. Here a few that I have seen: (if you know of any more please leave a comment)
handspun yarn club: Each month during your membership, you’ll receive one handspun yarn skeins - spun from hand-dyed merino wool, and may also include bits of other fibers like angelina, alpaca, cotton, tencel, superwash merino, bamboo, other wools, silk, glitz, etc.
Yarn of the month Run by knitting designer Sara Lucas - you get yarn and a pattern from contemporary designers.
Magnolia club: offers silk lace, Glazed Sock, Kettle Dyed Sock and Tosh Worsted yarns - run by Madelinetosh Hand Dyed Yarns.
Seasons yarn club: Every other month you will receive a mailing of Sundara Yarn.
Year of lace: The Year of Lace is a subscription lace knitting club. Every three months, a package containing luxury yarn and an original pattern by leading designers will arrive at your door. Registration for 2009 are open from August 10 until January 15 2009.

I have a couple of sock clubs too! One is an ongoing month to month ART WALK themed and the other opens up every 3 months and is semi-solid themed.
