I ran across this in a 2006 post, below, and I am desperately seeking this type of hem. I have also heard of a sewing machine from China that does a hand rolled hem and looks like hand rolled hem. I’ve not been able to find it either which is why I am wondering about Dixie’s request. All the links posted as an answer are no longer available.

“Dixie writes in asking for instructions for hand hemming silk.

I have lost instructions I had years ago for hand hemming silk scarves. It used only hand stitching and involved taking a few small stitches in a certain way then pulling gently on the thread to turn the hem into a roll. Can you help!!! I am so in need of this.”
