augmented craft by Matt Gilbert
Matt gilbert has developed a computer program which appropriates technology normally used for mass production for the purposes of small-scale production. He calls this “augmented craft”, where the computer plays a role, but it does not displace the person. [thanks Garth for the link]
“The program is a design interface that takes a given pattern, in this case a sweater, and allows me to draw and generate crochet patterns in the “sweater space”. Once a pattern is generated, I can go back through the pattern and follow along step-by-step as I crochet the pattern by hand.”
