You know when things are crazy and hectic, with kids and mess and people everywhere – all you crave is quiet and space and time to get to your projects – I often sneak off for a couple of hours to get a bit of writing or sewing or reading in – or when the kids are away at friends houses then I just love the few hours of peace. But this last week, with husband and both kids away – and all the time and space I could want – I can’t seem to concentrate or knuckle down to my huge to-do list. What is with that?

Anyway this past week on whipup things have not been so lackluster – it has been studio sneak peak heaven – with the mini closet studio, more cosy studios, nice spacious work area, reader studio features, gorgeous makeshift work nook, and some inspiration for those with tiny space – the closet hideaway / escape capsule. Do you have an interesting or gorgeous or nifty work space to share – send a photo and link to whipup[at]gmail.com

Did everyone see the inauguration speech – I didn’t watch it live – being in Aus and all – but did catch it on youtube the next day – so inspirational and heart warming. For some crafting to celebrate see how to grow hope – and also get yourself someObama fabric - very cool.

I confess to being somewhat addicted to extreme craft – when Garth posts its always interesting and funny – check out Matt Gilberts Augmented craft and the bra project.

We also featured some other interesting making and projects – Lucia from Italy and her versatile fashion, Weeks Ringle from Fun quilts has started a new blog, Betz White has a new book out, and reconstructed clothing from Finnish designer outsapop.

Lots of ideas for kids activities too – check out how to set up a writing area for young writers and make snow globes.

And for the rest of us crafters – some fab tutorials featured – including two by contributor writers – make this reusable picnic utensils roll from plastic bags and this wristlet tutorial. Also this stylish necklace made from tights, four hole paper binding, embroidered digital watch, screen printing, doll house potholder and viking shoe.

Wait there’s more … tips on how to take photos of your crafty projects at home … how to quit your day job and work on your dream full time … how to make a photo book with your home snaps … crafty getaways – (email whipup[at]gmail.com if you know of any cool crafty getaways).

Happy crafting everyone!

ps. don’t forget a whipup calendar.
