versatile clothing

Etsy seller Larimeloom, lucia squillari is a Italian maker who weaves, sews, spins, knits, crochets and more – with her mother and sister helping out too. Her designs are fantastic – with each piece being versatile in some way. The pants have an adjustable waist, the tops can be worn in several ways – all very cool. A hat becomes a neck warmer and a pleated poncho which can also be worn as a skirt or top.

She says “my family has always lived the “do-it-yourself-and-if-you-can’t, fix-it” philosophy and I guess it’s just stuck in my DNA. both of my grandmothers are tailors and my mom is very good at sewing.” And of her designs she says its an “organic process, I rarely use patterns, and have a soft spot for multipurpose designs. so often a skirt can be a top, a top can be a hat, a scarf can be a shrug.”

Weeks Ringle, one half of the dynamic duo that make up ‘fun quilts‘ has just started a blog of her own. She says that she hopes to “focus on helping people find the time and energy to make things, even small things”. Weeks will also be writing about projects and ideas to inspire making after the kids go to bed or when they get home from work.” Its going to be a little like the series that weeks wrote for whipup a while back – and if you want to learn more about Weeks Ringle and Fun quilts – read the interview she did with Kim at True up last year.
