I may be late to the party on this one…but oilcloth is seriously on my radar at the moment. Go figure. AND did you see there’s CHALK cloth. Yep, you can write on it with chalk!!!! (Don’t know if you can sew with it). Oilcloth Addict has 5 pantry projects including the one shown below. Link.

Oh, you can sew with chalkboard cloth – makes great placemats for kids, especially to take with you to a restaurant and keep them busy :)
