FYI: It can be worthwhile looking for natural products to look after fake and real hair! You may have to seek
them out in a department store or a natural / health food store
but they have no nasty chemicals so are sooo much better for
you.
There are a lot of tutorials online addressing this; the first ones started to go up about nine years or so ago. The Pie Knits version is very, very introductory: some people now do this with felted wool roving, for example.
Most falls are mounted on strips of lace that are tied around the bases of buns or pigtails, rather than on elastic hairbands, which are a little more difficult to position properly; the lace is also available in more colors. Some people prefer to mount their falls on claw clips, which gives the appearance of more volume.
