creativity means sanity. it confers the feeling that i’ve accomplished something, even if it’s just an idea to do something. in a world where everyone’s a mouseclick away, it’s hard to find a niche… there’s always someone more beautiful, someone smarter. it’s all rather depressing how normal and unexceptional you are against the backdrop of the interwebz. so being able to say ‘i made this’ or ‘that was my idea’ keeps my spirits up… keeps me off the prozac.

Creativity means listening to myself when I want to make something. It means acknowledging when I see something lovely or odd. Being creative is moving to my own beat and doing it everywhere. God has given us this great big world and he passed the gift of creativity on to us. I want to use it and share it!

Oy–what _doesn’t_ it mean. For me, every day is worthwhile as long as I can make something new–when I’m going through hard times, I am truly comforted and made excited about my life through the expression of creativity. Quite simply, it means unconditional joy.

Creativity can save the world. I work with at-risk native american kids and I am always amazed at art’s ability to reach across the generations and renew our commitment to healing ourselves and healing the planet. Creativity is a life-affirming activity and can effectively combat the corrosive effect of gangs on our communities. It unites us and gives us a way to communicate in a positive manner. Creativity saved me as a high school student and now I work with high school students and can return the favor.

Creativity means that I can show a true reflection of my soul and talent and have a sense of accomplishment when the rest of my life is less reflective of this!

Creativity gives me a feeling of achievment and pride in my abilities. It keeps me sane!

Creativity to me means the thrill of starting something completely new and unique. Sadly at the moment it also means loads of UFOs as I have so much excitement about starting and a lot of trouble finishing. But when I do finish something, I have the “ta-dah!” satisfaction of knowing I made something that’s just a little bit different to everything else.

To me, being creative means living my best life. Being creative, and creating, makes you think, makes you work, makes you look at things from so many different angles…
Being creative is that feeling of adrenalin you get when you start a new project you can’t bare to stop; being creative is finding the energy to “work” when you’ve had 3 hours sleep and a toddler filled busy day, and enjoying it….
Being creative is a necessity. A way of life. A joy.

Creativity means something new for me. It is becoming normal. I am looking at everything with what feels like new eyes, seeing significance in the nondescript, beauty in the mundane. Creativity means discovering that there are many things I can do, and finally giving myself permission to do them with abandon.

creativity to me means endless possibilities + making dreams happen. it’s the ability to change the world, change minds, solve problems. it enables individuals to become human + engage with their surroundings in an intimate way. it brings happiness, a sense of accomplishment, love, + serenity. a universal expression of the soul.

My creativity is my individuality

Being creative is just something that is. It’s like breathing or thinking. Question: What do you think about when you don’t have to think? (-Henry Eyring Sr.) Well, I think about solutions to little problems. Like how to repaint the dresser that looks so shabby. Or what to use that scrap of lace for. To solve a mundane problem creatively is the best feeling in the world.

CREATIVITY TO ME MEANS SANITY! YOU HAVE NO IDEA THE LENGTHS I HAVE GONE TO FIND MY CRAFTY NICHE IN THIS LIFE. IT TOOK MY MAMA YEARS AND LOTS OF HEADACHES TO GET ME TO WHERE I AM AT AND I AM ENJOYING EVERY MOMENT OF IT. THANKS FOR THE CHANCE!!! :D

That I get to create cute projects with my hands. Making almost anything I can get my hands on. It is an amazing ability to know that with just two hands I will have created something, anything. :D

To me being creative means being free. There is a sense of freedom of just creating without consequence.

Being Creativite means expressing your ideas, loves or hates in your own particular style or at least trying to. Chele x

What being creative means to me is a chance to let go, be free of my hear and now and focus on simple things. Simple things like colors. Stitches. Buttons. Yarn. Beauty. Elegance. The look on my children’s faces when i present them with their new home made prize. :)
September 2nd, 2009 at 3:32 am
To me (at this time in my life) creativity means being able to do something for myself, use my brain to think about something other than the kids and the house and being able to create something that doesn’t have to actually be something in particular – like my Snigglebottom family. People always ask me what they are and I say, they’re the “Snigglebottom’s”… Christine xo

Being creative is just part me and life feels extremely dull when I can’t make something! It can be sewing, printing or baking a cake, they all add a special sparkle to life.
September 2nd, 2009 at 4:53 am
being creative means having something to do when everyone around you is complaining that there is nothing to do and that everything fun cost too much to do!
September 2nd, 2009 at 5:44 am
Being creative is what’s good for me and can be planning, organising and scrapping a project, but also the finished project. Most importantly it’s the process.
September 2nd, 2009 at 5:50 am
geing creative is the opportunity to step outside my comfort zone and (sometimes!) to impress even myself with what i am capable of!
September 2nd, 2009 at 7:08 am
The ability to create helps me to clarify and simplify my mind. Being creative and making things helps me be the best person I know how to be, while making cool stuff.
September 2nd, 2009 at 7:12 am
Being creative for me is to channel my emotions and my day-to-day experiences through working with different materials and creating something.
September 2nd, 2009 at 7:51 am
for me, being creative is trying an experiment and learning something new. trying a new method, even though i’m probably going to have to tear it all out.

Creativity is my obession. Every spare minute of my day is taken up with knitting, sewing, crochet, felting, making or thinking about knitting, sewing or crochet etc etc. Seriously! Its an addiction.
September 2nd, 2009 at 8:59 am
I enjoy being creative because it allows me to express other side of my personality that don’t come out in my work life, and it keeps me growing and learning new things. Each new project or technique is a learning experience, and that gives me a great sense of accomplishment.
September 2nd, 2009 at 9:03 am
Being creative for me means to actually create something, anything out of almost nothing. Baking, sewing, knitting, embroidery, paper…anything. It makes me feel useful.
September 2nd, 2009 at 9:32 am
Oh man! I just read fert’s comment and that was totally what I was thinking! Crafting is my sanity! I am a stay at home mom and I love being able to do that and spend time with my daughter but I also look forward to that me time and creating something with my hands and especially finishing it and proudly exclaiming I MADE THAT!
September 2nd, 2009 at 9:35 am
Creativity is making your own little world in which you live by your own rules; there is no wrong way to create. It is my essence, I cannot make it through a day without doing something craft related- even if it’s just cutting out lettersand images from a magazine in bed before I go to sleep. I have told many people if I lose the use of my hands or get arthritis you might as well kill me, because life (to me) is not worth living without creating.

Being creative is a lifestyle. Taking the most beautiful things from everything, look at a pile of garbage and transform it in something beautiful.
Being creative is a way to sttay away from problems, to focus, to make people smile.
Being creative is the most amazing thing in my life.
September 2nd, 2009 at 1:04 pm
Being creative to me is – creating. Whether it is cooking, sewing, knitting, drawing, playing or creating moments. I tend to get caught up in it meaning that I need to create amazing, unique and perfect little objects, meals or moments but I am trying to focus on the creation not the end result.
thanks for sharing

Creativity is the color of my Life. How boring would Life be if it was always B&W?!
September 2nd, 2009 at 1:19 pm
Creativity means being able to make something that doesn’t exist just so that it will. It’s being able to make something for yourself, friends, and family that’s a lot more personal than being something from Hallmark. It’s the opportunity to be a little different in an increasingly dull world.
September 2nd, 2009 at 1:27 pm
Creativity is looking at life from many different vantage points and sharing your unique view with others.
September 2nd, 2009 at 1:34 pm
I’d love to win this! Creativity for me is all about experimenting. Mixing and matching and playing.

To me being creative means being mindful about what I’m doing rather than just following somebody else’s instructions.
September 2nd, 2009 at 3:55 pm
Creativity is as necessary as breathing to me. I wake up every day (and sometimes in the middle of the night) and think of a new project!
September 2nd, 2009 at 5:18 pm
Creativity means looking at the world around you and making it a reflection of you. From the clothes I wear, the crafts I make, the food I cook, the decor in my home – every part of my life can be touched by my creative self. You really don’t have to be an “artist” to be creative.
September 2nd, 2009 at 6:47 pm
The freedom to express myself, the buzz the sense of achievement gives me.
September 2nd, 2009 at 7:51 pm
Being creative is in everyone, it depends whether we use it or not. I’m amazed at the talent and ideas that is out there, and the generosity of people to share their creativity!!
September 2nd, 2009 at 8:23 pm
To create is to live.
September 2nd, 2009 at 9:15 pm
Being creative means a lot to me. Not only do I try to work on a craft project every day but I love to teach others. Because I feel this need to share the joy of creativity I started a group that meets once a month. Each meeting involves a craft project that I teach and provide supplies for. It has also helped me whittle down my monster stash of supplies. An issue of Mixtape would help me spread the joy of craft to my friends because I’m sure there is an idea in there I can use at the next meeting.
September 2nd, 2009 at 11:33 pm
Creativity for me is akin to breathing. If I have a day without the joy of creating something, I notice within myself that I feel incomplete. It’s an expression of who I am.
September 3rd, 2009 at 12:15 am
Being creative is doing something different, doing something personal, to learn and most of all seeing a need/desire in everyday life and fill the need/desire!!
September 3rd, 2009 at 12:53 am
Being creative means being myself.
September 3rd, 2009 at 3:04 am
Creativity, to me, is living and DOING. Creativity is making other people happy, making yourself happy, creativity is bringing beauty into the world– more, it’s turning the ugly into the stunning. It’s bringing life from death, making joy from nothing. Creativity is thinking! It’s about doing more than just existing– it’s about LIVING. Making something out of nothing. Creativity is finally finding that needle in the haystack.
