Creativity, to me, is living and DOING. Creativity is making other people happy, making yourself happy, creativity is bringing beauty into the world– more, it’s turning the ugly into the stunning. It’s bringing life from death, making joy from nothing. Creativity is thinking! It’s about doing more than just existing– it’s about LIVING. Making something out of nothing. Creativity is finally finding that needle in the haystack.

Being creative is doing something different, doing something personal, to learn and most of all seeing a need/desire in everyday life and fill the need/desire!!

Creativity for me is akin to breathing. If I have a day without the joy of creating something, I notice within myself that I feel incomplete. It’s an expression of who I am.

Being creative means a lot to me. Not only do I try to work on a craft project every day but I love to teach others. Because I feel this need to share the joy of creativity I started a group that meets once a month. Each meeting involves a craft project that I teach and provide supplies for. It has also helped me whittle down my monster stash of supplies. An issue of Mixtape would help me spread the joy of craft to my friends because I’m sure there is an idea in there I can use at the next meeting.

Creativity means looking at the world around you and making it a reflection of you. From the clothes I wear, the crafts I make, the food I cook, the decor in my home – every part of my life can be touched by my creative self. You really don’t have to be an “artist” to be creative.
