Missy Ann is right. I'd go in that direction. Here's a possibility: www.allfreecrafts.com/knitting/knitted-bells.shtmlThe bell I made had a garter stitch rim and stockinette sides as the pattern above does. The leaves were cut from green felt with two being glued together, then embroidered with a vein down the center, to make a stable base for the pin. These bells would also be fun in a garland.

I actually made the bells when I learning to knit as a kid. Missy Ann is right. I’d go in that direction. But it seems doable. Also if you want crochet, google "crochet fridgie patterns". My Mom used to make me pins just like you had, but she used fridgie patterns. I still have the leprechaun she made me in grade school.

Christmas pin:

http://www.knitlist.com/95gift/bell.htm
http://littlecottonrabbits.typepad.co.uk/free_knitting_patterns/2007/11/knitted-holly.html

That’s a knitting pattern for a bell & one for holly, I think you’ll have to assemble bits of different patterns to make what you want.
