whipup roundup

Back spasms from sewing quilt tops every day have abated – I found sewing standing up to be surprisingly comfortable – I put my sewing machine on top of a milk crate. Now I have been sadly neglecting this space – its all the fault of my (almost) new long arm quilter. I love it – its so much fun.

Thank you to everyone who entered the ‘Color your cloth’ competition – don’t forget Malka’s free scarf project too. And we had a guest post – a simple way to re-purpose vinyl packaging.

Morning Kathreen
Interesting to hear of your worthwhile experience with standing while sewing. I hope it inspires others to give this a try with various activities not usually associated with the upright position because I think it can be beneficial either short or long term. I have done it with eating and designing and know of others who stand up at the computer.
Life is fascinating.

Hi Karen
Yes many designers and architects stand while working – and long arm quilters are mostly standing too – so inspired to give regular sewing a go while standing was inspirational. It is excellent for regular straight sewing – however I find that I do need to sit if I manipulating the fabric a lot – say with sewing curves or intricate patterns.
cheers
Kathreen
