Anat has written a tutorial (in Hebrew as well as English) for making these paper flowers from baking paper, they can be used in scrapbooking layouts, greeting cards and other paper craft projects. Anat uses baking paper because: it is a firm, stable material but more important because creasing and crumpling doesn’t destroy it, on the contrary, it compliments it.

Pattern Weights

don’t waste your time pinning patterns to your fabric whilst cutting – use pattern weights. This is part of an ongoing series of ‘tools of the trade’ – useful (but more obscure) sewing tools from Five Green Acres (also see how to add a seam allowance).

mason*dixon knitting gals, Ann Meador Shayne and Kay Gardiner, to celebrate the release of the paperback version of their first book (remember the knitted baby bibs and swiffer covers?) have made a pretty funny promo video - I know knitters will appreciate it.

The year is 2039: A documentary entitled Grey Garments is being filmed about the reclusive Ann Meador Shayne and Kay Gardiner, who are living among impossible piles of yarn and scattered packages of Lean Cuisine and Beef Cup O’ Noodle in their New York City apartment, where they are facing eviction. They talk about their failed book concepts, including Three Socks on A Circ and Knitting for Couples.

I love Kirsty’s video tutorials. The french knot is one of my ALL TIME favourite embroidery stitches. I was ridiculously delighted when I finally figured out how to do them. Link to how-to.
