there is a new craft blog on the scene and this one is dedicated to all the handy and crafty blokes out there.

ManMadeDIY.com is a new crafting website that doesn’t presume its readers are female. It’s a home for men excited about crafts, art, design, home décor, and food. Men for whom “making” means more than soldering, and who proudly store their knitting needles next to their circular saws.

I am sort of loving the recycled paint tin pendant lights and they have a free downloadable poster ‘happiness is a hot glue gun’ + lots of other great stuff including tool tips, grammar help + crafty haiku.

Sarah has been busy with various fun valentine garlands. Including cellophane heart perfect to make with kids and this cut out heart pictured below. This project involved stiffening fabric and then using a heart paper-punch to make a negative heart space on the garland.

sculpting with fabric scraps with this textile leftovers scarf tutorial. Thanks Jo: it’s great for recycling and using up all those scraps and bit and pieces that you don’t have a use for otherwise.

whipup roundup

Have been working at home this week – on my day job (magazine layout design) and on my quilting project (book project with Chronicle books) – so have been super busy but surprisingly not too horrible to live with. The key has been menu planning – yes indeed, planning breakfast menus and dinner menus. This not only helps to get shopping organised but manages everyones expectations about who is cooking and what they are getting – hopefully with the whole family having helped in this process we will have a little less dinner fuss (hopefully).

If you collect vintage cards or happen to have a whole heap in a shoe box stashed somewhere – then here is the cutest way to use a few of them – a card bunting.
