I do enjoy knitting socks and have knit a few of these. A couple others are in my knitting queue matched up with yarn just waiting for their turn. Thanks for the other suggestions!

Very cool. You might want to check out the North Sea Socks/meeresrauschen (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/meeresrauschen). I haven’t finished mine, because it was my first colorwork project and they didn’t fit over my heel. Still need to rip and redo!

Every one of these is a gem- thanks for the roundup! A favorite sock book of mine is Stephanie van der Linden’s “Around the World in Knitted Socks.” Every single pattern in it is a winner.

About your hint- I will seriously knit you some pairs of socks in exchange for one of your marvelous quilts. Lately I have been knitting worsted and bulky socks but for your quilt I will toil away with fingering weight. I’m a pretty experienced sock knitter, and a blue ribbon winner at the Minnesota State Fair to boot (you should see the stiff knitting competition in this place, after all we have only three seasons- almost winter, winter, and snow’s-almost-melted.) Ha! :)

I think knitting socks is a hereditary hobby for us in the family. My grandma happened to love sock knitting then she passed it to my mom and my mom passed it to me and it seems like my daughter is also showing some interest in sock knitting. In fact, we have knitted a lot of socks already for all seasons. We have socks for Halloween, St. Patrick’s Day, etc. It’s not only a fun hobby but something that could tighten my bond with my daughter.
