As the Whip Up community knows well, Kathreen was extremely committed to her blog and her readers and has given us so much since the blog began, through her own posts and that of guest contributors. Even while travelling around Australia with her family she continued to coordinate a series of blog posts, including from special guests. A number of these guest posts were already scheduled to appear and will do so in coming days. It is just another part of her legacy.

We would also like to thank everyone for their kind words and support, every comment you leave is very much valued.

So, so sorry to hear about this mess. I don’t even remotely know her personally, but I love this blog so much. You can always feel the love here. Hugs to all of you who were friends, family and collaborators.

I guess I’m just going to keep writing to say how sad this makes me. Whip-up and Kathreen’s confident way with this site got me through some sad times and some dreary times and made happy times even better. Learning about — and learning to make — things that I never dreamed of making is all up to Kathreen and her group of crafters. I am a richer person today because of craft, the people’s art. How I wish I could do something to pay her back….she is gone far too soon.

Kathreen did such a wonderful job of inspiring and encouraging others. I know many of us who never had a chance to meet her off-line will miss her presence. Her work and adventurous spirit will certainly continue to inspire me and my family. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family. The way she lived was so encouraging – she should have had so many more years, and her children with her.

This is such a tragic ending to what sounded and looked according to the blog and the pictures that were taken, like a wonderful family time together. I don’t know this family or anything about Whip-up. I was on the CNN website, and I saw the horrible story, and how it played out in front of their children…
I just wanted to write a message of Condolence to the children, and family members of both their loved ones lost.
May you all find some peace and comfort knowing they have now touched the face of God and rest in his loving arms.
I’m so very sorry for your loss

This is what she’d want: not to let down contributors who’ve written pieces for her, and for her work to continue.

What a tragic loss. I have been a happy lurker on this site for a number of years, and always admired the diversity of topics presented. My thoughts and prayers go out to those children and their family.

Thanks, Jules. I’m sure this is difficult for you – I include you in my prayers as well.

I have been following WhipUp for a long time and dearly love this blog and the creator of it! I am so sorry to hear of her untimely passing, and especially for her children. I didn’t know Kathreen personally, but feel as if I have lost a close friend. My prayers and thoughts are with her family and friends at this time.

Words cannot express the sadness I am feeling now. The loss of two wonderful people, but, you are the two most awesomest Angles that your two gorgeous children could ever ask for to watch over them….
I never knew either of you personally, but I know Kathreen through your blog, a wonderful creator, mother, wife and friend gone too soon….
All my luv, hugs and prayers to your beautiful children, family and friends.

I feel so sad. Such a vibrant crafty person. I never met Kathreen but felt I knew her a little from her blog. Warm hugs to her children at such a tragic time. May you both feel the love of family and close friends. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I am so sad for your loss, and my thoughts and prayers go out to her precious children and family. I live in Karratha, Western Australia and my family has had some very special times at Coral Bay. It is hard to believe that such wonderful people have lost their lives at such a peaceful and idyllic location. My all of your happy memories, sustain you all through such a sad time.
I will miss reading this upbeat blog.

I just found out about the blog through Kristin Nicholas’ s blog and spent yesterday
Afternoon reading past whip up posts. What an amazing person and family. I bought her compilation in the hope of sharing her activities with our neighborhood kids this summer. I can appreciate her spirit and am so inspired. I hope her children can heal by knowing what a wonderful life they had together however short. I am the mom of a thirteen year old and it is such a tough time in any case much less seeing death so close. I hope some comfort will be gained in knowing how her mom will still help so many others grow despite her being gone.
