I’m a recently transplanted west coaster now living in Toronto with my boyfriend/partner/absentminded professor-to-be. I am currently a student in a Masters of Environmental Studies program at York University, studying affordable housing policy and community planning, and this
means I get to spend way too much time procrastinating from writing papers by crafting.
While I don’t have any kind of formal training in arts or design, I was encouraged to make things by my crafty mom ever since I was little, and
have also inherited from her an approach to crafting that sees instructions as rough guidelines and patterns as merely a first draft of your own creation. While this approach may lack techincal expertise and require at least three do-overs for any project, it also breeds creativity and originality.
Getting rid of my tv and starting a blog and an online shop in 2004 has given me more inspiration and motivation to find time for crafting and
creativity in my everyday life than I ever imagined it could. I can be found sewing handbags, creating knitting needle cases, and making
accessories for my online shop. I also like quilting, screen printing, soap making, and cooking, plus anything else I can get my hands on.
