Excited to introduce another pair of books I have been working on this past year … these latest two books are part of the Kids’ Crafternoon series by Hardie Grant - A dream job working with cool people and for a super good publisher. You can find out more about the previous two books in the series back here. I know … What am I? All these books coming out at the same time – it’s sort of crazy and quite a co-incidence – some publishers just work on a different time line to others – so that fact that they ended up out and about at the same time is pure luck!

Today the blog party for Kids Crafternoon Beading and Felting begins- see the whole tour list at the bottom. Available online from Booktopia and other online stores too.

The covers for these books are cute … no? Felt finger puppets by Abby Glassenberg and Beaded bird earrings by Nicole Vaughan. And once again my super multi-talented husband Rob Shugg did all the beautiful hand drawn illustrations for both of these books and for the previous two as well.

These books have a superstar contributor list …
Abby Glassenberg :: Bianca Brownlow :: Cassi Griffin :: Cate Holst :: Christine Chitnis ::  Claire Dollan :: Ellen Luckett Baker :: Erin Dollar :: Heather Graham :: Holly Keller ::  Kirsty Macafee :: Laura Malek :: Lisa Siebert :: Lisa Tilse :: Lisa Whitesell :: Monica Solorio-Snow :: Nanette Lauchart-Fletcher :: Nicole Vaughan :: Pascale Mestdagh :: Sharon Baldwin :: Suzie Fry :: Timothy Haugan

Follow along on the blog party tour…

I am super duper hyped up excited to be able to finally show you the first two books in series of kids craft books I have been working on for Hardie Grant Books. Hardie Grant are a lovely Australian publisher who are well known for their beautiful lifestyle, design and cook books and have sort of recently begun to delve into the craft book scene. You probably already know of them through Pip Lincoln’s Meetmeatmikes books. So I was really excited that they were interested in working with me on their series of craft books for kids. The series is called Kids’ Crafternoon and to start with the first two books in the series are just out – Papercraft and Sewing. Two more books will be out later in the year – Beading and Felting. Isn’t that awesome!

I worked on the book as the editor, bringing together a great bunch of crafters and designers who contributed some wonderful and creative projects to the books. So many creative contributors who I will tell you about a little later – some these folks will be showcasing parts of the book in the coming weeks too – Plus there will be a blog tour later in the month where you can see even more.

You can get your hands on a copy from Booktopia (here and here + more sneak peaks) and at readings too. (Also Amazon UK stocks it too I think)

Hardie Grant are generously offering a copy of each of these books to three whipup readers – isn’t that exciting! So please leave a comment to be in the running – you have 72 hours to enter! Thanks so much for all your great comments. Congratulations Candace, Sadie and Lilly you have been contacted via email.

Let me tell you about the covers - Papercraft cover image the Owl popup card by Larissa holland and the Sewing book cover is Limby the button eye dude pattern by Lizette Greco + Grecolaborativo. However this cover story is a little sad, Lizette’s wonderful Limby doll’s disappeared in the mysterious postal system – never to be seen again. So at the last minute I whipped up a few samples using Lizette’s pattern and tried to recreate the feel of her limby’s as faithfully as I could – to be used in the photoshoot – and there they are on the cover – Lizette’s dolls made by me. Here are Lizette’s Limby dolls here and find out a little more about their story here – I love Barry the limby bear - don’t you?
