diy decor

September/October brings change of season, and fresh starts and frivolity and seriousness too. So for a break from whipup realtime I am introducing a few weeks of guest bloggers to liven up your crafty experience. To bring you something fresh, and hopefully invigorate you to make and do and be and think! Its going to be a fun few weeks so come along for the ride.

Today I would like to introduce your to Brittni from papernstitch, a blog I love for its fresh take on diy home decor and design. When not working on papernstitch, Brittni enjoys dreaming up new diy projects and tutorials in her cozy, brick bungalow along with husband Jeff and two adorable pets.

Hi everyone. I’m Brittni, and I am here guest posting today.

For those who don’t know me, I am the owner of an exhibition site for artists and designers called papernstitch. And when I am not working, I spend the majority of my free time coming up with fun, diy projects. One of the things that I am obsessed with these days is decorating our 1930′s bungalow that my husband and I bought several years ago now. So, I thought I’d share a few of my favorite home DIY projects with you today.

1. Book Shelf, Literally: I’ve been collecting old books for years now, and this tutorial would certainly put them to good use. I am always looking for a quirky, conversation-starter; and I think I’ve found another to add to the list.

2. Whirl It Lampshade: Since the moment I discovered this tutorial for a modern diy lampshade, I’ve been staring at my schedule trying to figure out when I can sit down and actually make one of these myself. With just a few basic supplies, you can make one too.

3. Double Duty Dry Erase Boards: This is actually one of my own tutorials. I know shameless plug, huh? But I chose it because it is honestly one of the most functional projects I’ve ever completed. Its a tutorial for a pretty dry erase board, that serves as wall art when not in use. Super fast and easy! Great project for an office.
