high-end fiber artists

Excellent article on storque about ‘high end’ fiber artists who sell their work through etsy. What rates as high-end you ask? I was interested to know too … This can mean traditional crafts of trained and experienced makers – whose work is detailed and highly skilled. Examples include Estonian crochet artist, Hedda Vatter, who uses her skills in making Irish lace to fashion modern day jewelry. Then there is Fred Ullom from Ohio, an accomplished weaver, ex mathematician, he now makes scarves whose structures are a sort of mathematical “play” with twill. Rebecca Burgess is an eco artist, she creates art whose strength lies within its process: such as harvesting native plants for dyes, and purchasing her yarn from local farms (see image below).
