roundup

Another busy week – and I am guessing it is just going to keep getting crazier right up till news years day! On the agenda for me – am working on the 2011 Whipup calendar – this is the 3rd year of the calendar and this year I will also be offering it as a printable pdf. I am also working on a shopping cart where I will be offering some print your own quilt patterns and lots of freebies too – once I get the hang of it – all very exciting stuff. I am working on a new quilt design, my second quilt book – all my own designs – is in the final stages of editing and layout – and I am working on a series of kids craft books with an Australian publisher – so thats Uber exciting. Naturally the housework has gone to hell! But who cares about that…

At whipup this week – look out for Elizabeth Hartman’s blog tour appearance on Whipup tomorrow and your chance to win some fabric and a book.

I have been thinking a lot lately about making with kids. My kids are so keen to get creative that it is difficult to keep up with them – and they are so full of ideas. I find little concoctions and experiments, notes and pictures left all over the house – so I have been drawn to how others craft with kids – please send in your ‘crafting with kids’ links to whipup[at]gmail.com.

Most people might not realise that whipup is run by one woman from home in her spare time (that’s me). Last year I implemented advertising in order to help pay some of the running costs – its been great but also difficult sometimes to keep up with the admin of it all – so I asked my brother to help me out – he did more than that and developed a web tool to help manage my ads – its been fantastic and I think advertisers have also had a positive experience with this system. The downside of course is that getting folk to advertise still requires time that I just don’t seem to have. So if you know of someone who might benefit from advertising with whipup – please give them this link to peruse (I have a pdf available too with stats and prices etc) and I am offering a 15% discount to all ads that are booked between now and 1 April – just use this coupon when booking online ‘March2010wKcH65‘. Thanks heaps.

Camping on the weekend was a hoot – we went with some other families with the perfect combination of children. Lots of night time rain but it cleared up in the day – snorkeling, canoeing, fishing, swimming, surfing – you name it… came back feeling rather relaxed.

    whipup roundup

I really can’t believe school is going back – I am just a little relieved – having the kids around has been nice – they have been very self sufficient these holidays with their own projects (kanzashi flowers with this book) and have been just a little bit addicted to audio books (Harry Potter read by Stephen Fry is really very wonderful). However I can’t keep up with the mess and the noise and I really need my space back + I have a lot of work to catch up on.

    1. Need to make something … check out Nicole’s cute felt fridge magnet tutorial
    2. Made me smile: plush seahorse doily pillow woodland girl printable calendarmario sweater vest
    3. BOOKS: … I recommend the photojojo book

    5. Still time for Calendars: 2010 whipup crafty collectible calendar here (sorry no discounts as these are print on demand – but really they are worth it).
