Gearing up for a solo parenting weekend, full of soccer, bike rides and maybe some uhm relaxing craftiness? mmm… mess is screaming at me from the corners and I might have to scream back at it. I know this weekend the kids have plans to give the chooks a makeover, they did a test run of one the most passive girls, sat her in a bucket of warm water and gave her feet a wash, then wiped her down gently with warm water and groomed her beautifully, then tried to stop her from heading back to scratching worms – she was remarkably calm throughout – not sure how the other girls might react though – will be fun to watch.

Introducing more of the contributors, whose mini quilt patterns appear in Whip Up Mini Quilts, published by Chronicle books

I have introduced you to:Alexandra Rasmussen, Lisa Solomon, Kellie Wulfsohn, Alix McAlister, Ruth Singer and Kajsa Wikman.

Today I will introduce you to the Aussie gals Alison Brookbanks, Shannon Lamden, Kristine Lempriere, Nicole Vaughan and me! (Kellie Wulfsohn was introduced as a cover gal).

Alison Brookbanks was one of the first aussie bloggers I ‘met’ online when I first started up my own blog years ago. Alison’s designs are simple and beautiful – she loves details and textures.

Shannon Lamden, otherwise known as Auntie cookie, is an illustrator and fabric designer – her mad quirky designs are pretty fun.

Kristine Lempriere has her own children’s clothing business – beautiful seamstress – her quilts have also been featured in various quilting magazines.

Nicole Vaughan is craftapalooza, my other half here at Whipup. She has a silly sense of humour and great sense of colour and design – she is a fabric-aholic just like me!

And Me! Kathreen Ricketson – I started blogging here at Redcurrent years ago – but nowadays I am mostly at whipup – although I do occasionally stop in to Red Cordial Revolution to record my family creative adventures along with my little Bro.

Tomorrow US based makers Betz White, Sherri-Lynn Wood, Lisa Call, Boo Davis, Malka Dubrawsky, Victoria Gertenbach, Lizette Greco, Liz Harvatine, Jude Hill, Lucinda Jones, Alicia Paulson, Meg Spaeth and Sarah Steedman.

    whipup roundup

This past week (and a half – sorry for the lateness of this newsletter) I have been madly editing my first draft for my first deadline of my next book. It doesn’t have to be perfect as it will go through plenty more edits yet – but I do want my editors to get a good first impression. The quilting machine is packed away again for now – I don’t have a permanent spot for it – it would be nice to have it set up somewhere – a studio – that’s what I need – with a big 8-foot high design wall – oh a girl can dream can’t she?

I have also spent some time this week exploring and downloading e-books – and checking out the modern quilter guild, I also had a chuckle over the mason dixon promo video. Betsy Greer wrote in asking for idea for DIY trash for a project she is working on … and we looked at the community in conversation … And its the year of the Tiger – happy new year all …
